A long time ago Jeff Cisneros (CEO Sparta Combat League) had a dream to televise his own MMA event, and on April 22nd, 2017 he did just that. Army vs Marines 8 went live on Altitude TV, and it was quite a thing. "It's just the next step in our journey! We're nowhere near where I know we can be." Said Jeff after the event.
He should be proud, the fights were excellent, the crowd was full and the fans were loud. Chants for crowd favorites could be heard throughout the event. Not to mention veterans were recognized and appreciated once again, by the team with a vision. Sparta Combat League! The preliminary matches had some bloody battles which can be viewed on my Facebook profile by click on here. In this photoblog, you will see the main card!
Scott Ingram (3-0) had a very pleasing first round knockout over Jake Shanks (0-2)!
Joshua Copeland made short work of his opponent as well, I am unsure of what happened. Whether it was an injury or just surrender. His opponent, Tracy Willis, fell quickly and tapped the canvas. Joshua was confused himself. "I'll take it," he said after the fight. "I didn't want to get hit by those big hands!"
Cheri Muraski survived Shannon Sinn's submission attempts in the first round and came back with a submission victory in the second. Cheri now moves to 4-0 (according to some MMA websites), and Sinn falls to 3-6.
Adam Vigil (2-0) put on a clinic versus William Gravely (0-1), winning by unanimous decision. You can click these pictures to enlarge them.
Josh Huber picked up a solid win over (5-3) Adam Acquaviva, he was very happy and it showed. "I have 2 first round finishes since dropping down to bantamweight and joining Factory X. This is just the beginning." Huber said after the fight and is now bolstering an impressive 20-10 record. (Photographers note, a lot of Huber's significant strikes happened at an angle my camera couldn't see well, and it was a first round finish so I caught what I could!)
Justin Gonzales started out slow but came back in the later rounds to dominate, taking home another win. Unfortunately, there was water damage to my laptop at the end of this fight and I wound up losing all of the images for the main event. A shame really, I had some amazing shots!
